9th April 2025 – Bermaz Motor, the exclusive distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia, is proud to announce the launch of the highly anticipated Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition, a tribute to over three decades of driving exhilaration and timeless design.
Since its debut in 1989, the Mazda MX-5 has remained true to its philosophy of delivering an unparalleled driving experience—embodying the spirit of Jinba-Ittai, the perfect harmony between driver and machine. Over the decades, the MX-5 has evolved, refining its performance, technology, and design while staying true to its essence. From the iconic first-generation NA to the modern fourth-generation ND, every iteration upholds Mazda’s unwavering commitment to a pure, driver-centric experience.
Now, in celebration of this legacy, Mazda introduces the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition—an exclusive tribute to 35 years of driving joy. With limited units available for Malaysia, this special edition seamlessly blends heritage-inspired elements with modern refinements, elevating both aesthetics and performance. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, it features premium design accents, cutting-edge technology, and an unmistakable presence, making it a true collector’s piece.
For 35 years, the Mazda MX-5 has defined the essence of driving pleasure through its lightweight agility, dynamic handling, and timeless style. The 35th Anniversary Edition takes this passion even further, delivering an exhilarating experience that honors the past while embracing the future.
At the heart of this milestone edition lies Mazda’s Kodo: Soul of Motion design philosophy—an artistic expression of dynamic energy and timeless beauty. Even at a standstill, the MX-5 exudes motion, its sculpted lines and poised stance reflecting aerodynamic purity and emotional appeal. More than just a car, the 35th Anniversary Edition is a symbol of Mazda’s relentless pursuit of driving perfection — where every curve, every detail, and every drive is a celebration of Jinba-Ittai.
The 35th Anniversary Edition MX-5 stands out with its exclusive Artisan Red Premium exterior colour—Mazda’s fourth special hue created through the brand’s unique Takuminuri painting technology. This advanced three-layer finish enhances the MX-5’s sculpted body lines, accentuating both strength and elegance. Artisan Red Premium delivers a fine-grained, transparent red that radiates brilliance, with deep, rich tones that create a striking contrast and a profound sense of depth.
On the exterior, the 35th Anniversary Edition proudly features a serialized 35th Anniversary Edition badge on the rear fender, signifying its exclusive limited-production status. Enhancing its striking presence, the body-coloured outer rearview mirrors seamlessly blend with the design, while the 17-inch Bright Metallic alloy wheels add a touch of sophistication and sportiness to its timeless silhouette.
Inside, the 35th Anniversary Edition embraces a classic sports car aesthetic with a beautifully coordinated Sports Tan interior. The dashboard trim, carpeting, and floor mats all feature a matching Tan finish, with the 35th Anniversary Edition logo elegantly embroidered on the mats. Enhancing the cabin’s sophistication, the Tan leather seats come with the 35th Anniversary logo embossed on the headrests. Adding to its exclusivity, Artisan Red Premium colour-matched trim accents the air-conditioning vents and door panels, seamlessly tying the interior to the striking exterior.
Additionally, the 2025 Mazda MX-5 line-up has been enhanced with new design updates, features and upgraded connectivity. The Mazda MX-5 design update introduces headlamps with a recessed circular low beam, creating a dynamic “eye-like” effect that shifts between a dignified and compassionate gaze. The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) provide a mature, feel, setting the MX-5 apart from other models. When the turn signal is activated, the outer DRL flashes orange. The rear combination lamp now features a concave lens, enhancing the “afterburner” effect and harmonizing with the car’s rear motifs. All lamps have been upgraded to LEDs, improving visibility and extending lifespan. The rear bumper is updated with reflectors and rear fog lights.
All variants of the Mazda MX-5 now feature a newly designed meter cluster, offering improved legibility and readability with a darker dial face color and an updated pointer shape. The MX-5 is also equipped with a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, combining both style and functionality. For enhanced connectivity, the MX-5 comes with a new 8.8-inch infotainment system, featuring voice recognition, a USB-C charging port, and a high definition reverse camera, all seamlessly integrated into the new display.
In terms of safety, the MX-5 now includes an additional i-Activsense feature such as the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), further enhancing driver confidence and awareness.
The new Mazda MX-5 2.0L manual transmission variant now features DSC -TRACK (Driving Stability Control Track Mode) and an Asymmetric LSD (Limited Slip Differential). DSC-TRACK delivers a more engaging and less intrusive driving experience, especially during spirited drives, by allowing greater driver control while still offering a safety net when needed. Complementing this is the newly introduced Asymmetric LSD — a cutting-edge technology that enhances vehicle stability by intelligently adjusting the differential limiting force during both acceleration and deceleration, ensuring optimal traction and control in various driving conditions.
In the MX-5, the Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system has been updated to enhance nimbleness and precision. By reducing friction on the steering rack by 5%, the system provides smoother operation. Improved control of the assist motor, achieved through revised control logic, results in more linear steering assist characteristics, delivering a more natural and responsive driving experience.
