- Around seventy percent of the workforce participated in the vaccination campaign
- The tyre manufacturing operations of the factory will be restarted in September
Alor Setar, August 28, 2021. Continental Tyre Alor Setar Sdn Bhd, a tyre manufacturing plant of Continental in Kedah, is fully committed to enable the vaccination of its workforce and contribute to Malaysia’s path to recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic. The company has started a vaccination campaign in the month of August at its premises offering to all its employees free of charge the possibility to get vaccinated. Today, the employees have had the opportunity to receive the second dose of the vaccine.
“Our goal is to ensure that our workforce is able to return to work with full protection against the Covid-19 virus. We have purchased therefore the vaccine and offered our employees the possibility to get easy access to vaccination at the premises of our plant. We had an excellent response and by the end of today around 90% of our people received their second vaccine. This will ensure that we will be able to restart our activities safely in September, complying to the Malaysian regulation for manufacturing companies”, declared Mr Noor Izwan bin Ismail, General Manager of Continental Tyre Plant in Alor Setar.
At Continental, we have been implementing meticulous processes to proactively screen for and prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus at the workplace. Besides fully complying with all required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Government, we made it mandatory for anyone entering the Plant to take a Saliva Rapid Antigen Test. “With the implementation of daily testing and strict adherence to all the SOPs since the beginning of the pandemic, has successfully avoided any outbreak of Covid -19 workplace cluster within the Plant. Thus, with the added measure of getting all our employees vaccinated, we are confident that we can operate smoothly and keep our employees safe at the same time”, added Mr V.
