Caltex donates food packs for health workers and law enforcement personnel
PETALING JAYA, Malaysia, 21 May 2020 – Chevron Malaysia Limited, which markets the retail brand, Caltex® (“Caltex”), in partnership with Grab Malaysia, will donate about 2,800 meals to frontliners who have selflessly served the nation since the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in Malaysia. From 15 May to 11 June, Caltex and Grab will deliver food packs to health workers at clinics, as well as police officers and army personnel who are manning roadblocks.
In this innovative collaboration, Caltex has appointed the homegrown everyday everything app as our community outreach partner and tapped into Grab’s breadth of expertise in the food and beverage sector as well as their depth of industry experience in delivery and logistics management. Under this program, Caltex and Grab are working with Alibaba and Nyonya Cafe, a home-grown restaurant which serves authentic Malay-Nyonya cuisine with a contemporary twist, to supply the food packs in their bid to support local businesses throughout this challenging period. Grab will collect the food prepared by Alibaba and Nyonya Cafe before sending them to frontliners at various clinics and roadblocks.
“As a company that values safety and security, Chevron understands and recognises the tremendous concerted effort, time and dedication of our health workers and law enforcement personnel. We appreciate the commitment of these frontliners during our time of need by maintaining Malaysia’s safety and security, and we would like to acknowledge their contribution to society. It is fitting that this initiative is taking place on the cusp of Hari Raya Aidilfitri as it is a time for togetherness and unity. We hope these donations will show our brave frontliners that we’re standing by them during this challenging time,” said Jay Gomez, Country Chairman of Chevron Malaysia Limited.
Commenting on Caltex’s appreciation of our project partner, Gomez added, “I would like to commend Grab Malaysia for their accommodation and professionalism throughout this period. Grab shared Caltex’s desire to give back to frontliners which made partnering with them the right decision, and we are glad to be activating this initiative with them.”
“We are proud to collaborate with Caltex to ensure that the nation’s frontliners are not forgotten during these difficult times by making sure that they never miss a meal. While many of us are staying safe at home, our country’s dedicated frontliners are working incredibly hard to protect the health and safety of all Malaysians. We’re thrilled for the opportunity to play a part in supporting these local heroes and our hearts and appreciation go out to them for their selfless efforts. Grab remains committed to providing the community with convenient access to daily necessities and support through our delivery network. By working together and with continuous support across industries, we are confident that Malaysia will get through this,” said Rashid Shukor, Head of Operations at Grab Malaysia.
In light of the month of Ramadhan, the food packs will be delivered in the evenings to accommodate the requirements of frontliners who are fasting during this period.
