Premium automaker ushers in the New Year 2020 with two new additions to its portfolio of locally assembled vehicles.
BMW Malaysia today introduced the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport and the New BMW 320i Sport, two new variants to their portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles in Malaysia, further delivering on the premium automaker’s continued investments in the country and in line with the aim of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to strengthen the automotive industry in the year 2020.

The BMW X1 established the premium compact SAV segment in 2009 and is the best-selling vehicle in its class today. To maintain this leading position, the BMW X1 has undergone a comprehensive update in vehicle design and technological innovation to produce the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport variant. Complementing the release of the new SAV is a new variant to the seventh generation of the iconic sports sedan introduced in March 2019, the New BMW 320i Sport. Having won the Autonis 2019, the design of the new BMW 3 Series is a modern take on the sporty elegance for which BMW is renowned for.

The New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport.
The New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport now emanates a stronger road presence. The two halves of the larger kidney grille are now joined in the middle. The redesigned front bumper with integrated LED fog lights and larger air intakes also lend the new SAV a more dynamic appearance. The tubes in the LED headlights have a hexagonal shape, underscoring the modern looks of the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport.
The Lights Package also includes a Welcome Light Carpet. When the vehicle is unlocked, an LED light source in the driver’s-side exterior mirror projects the characters “X1” onto the ground in two tones. The LED rear lights features a new design, with a single LED bar drawing the familiar L signature from side to side.
The ten-millimetre drop in ride height (now 1,588mm) thanks to the M Sport Suspension, the BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim and the M Aerodynamics Package add to the efficiency and athleticism of the new SAV. This is further illustrated by the right and left tailpipes, which have grown in diameter from 70 to 90 millimetres. The new SAV also features 18-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-Spoke Style 570 M Bicolour.
Powering the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport is a formidable 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 7-Speed Steptronic Dual Clutch Sport transmission. The New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport has a top speed of 224 km/h. The maximum output equates to 192 hp at 5,000 – 6,000 rpm, while the peak torque is 280 Nm at 1,350 – 4,600 rpm. The century sprint is achieved in 7.6 seconds. The new SAV has a combined fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100km of travel and a combined carbon emission of 149g/km.
Inside, the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport is visually striking with interior trim finishers in Aluminium, finely brushed lengthwise with highlight trim finishers in Pearl Chrome. The new SAV’s central element for infotainment is the new 8.8-inch touchscreen navigation system located in the middle of the dashboard. It can be used to control entertainment and navigation functions, with voice control and the iDrive Controller on the centre console available as alternative input methods. The BMW ConnectedDrive services are also available to the new SAV. The instrument cluster with black-panel technology and chrome rings surrounding the large, round speedometer and rev counter displays offers elegance amidst the new SAV’s sporty demeanour.
Owners can enjoy the thrill of driving the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport with the M Leather steering wheel affixed as standard, while their passengers enjoy the spacious rear seats. Additionally, the New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport’s luggage compartment remains the largest in the premium segment, with a maximum capacity of 1,550 litres.
The New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport is offered in four stunning colours, namely Misano Blue, Black Sapphire, Alpine White and Mineral Grey, paired with premium Black Leather Dakota upholstery with perforations. The New BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport will be available at the pop-ups and all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 13th January 2020.
The New BMW 320i Sport.
The newest and much awaited variant in the BMW 3 Series portfolio, the New BMW 320i Sport carries the prominent expression of the current world’s best-selling premium sports sedan with both the front LED fog lights and the Air Curtains integrated into the outer air intakes and are inserted into the front apron in a horizontal T. This design was originally developed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) for the intake air in jet engines and later became a feature of classical racing cars.
The variant is further equipped with sporty 18-inch light alloy wheels in V-Spoke Style 780 Bicolour. Owners can also look forward to a lighter, more rigid vehicle as the total weight has been further reduced by 30 kg (kerb weight of 1,460 kg) thanks to its lightweight framework.
The New BMW 320i Sport features the 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine, paired with the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The sports sedan is capable of generating a top speed of 235 km/h, with a maximum output of 184 hp at 5,000 – 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 300 Nm at 1,350 – 4,000 rpm. The century sprint can be achieved in just 7.1 seconds. The New BMW 320i Sport only consumes 6.3 litres of fuel per 100 km and generates 144 g/km of CO2.
The cabin of the New BMW 320i Sport features three-zone automatic climate control, interior trim finishers in Aluminium ‘Mesheffect’, complete with the exclusive Sport leather steering wheel which adds to the thrilling driving experience.
The premium sports sedan is equipped with the BMW Live Cockpit Plus – an analogue instrument cluster with 5.7-inch display and 8.8-inch touch sensitive control display.
A first in its segment, the New BMW 320i Sport offers segment leading innovation and offering such as the Reversing Assistant for hands free, semi-autonomous convenience when reversing in narrow streets, along with the Rear View Camera that is fitted as standard. These features are powered by the BMW Operating System 6, which also powers the BMW Digital Key for next level vehicle security and management. The BMW Digital Key employs Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that allow the new BMW 320i Sport to lock and unlock and even start the engine with the newest compatible cell-phones and without needing a physical key, another first in class technology in the Malaysian premium automotive industry.
