The latest edition of the locally-assembled Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) arrives in the xLine variant, joining the recently introduced all-electric BMW iX1 in the BMW X1 model series
Kuala Lumpur, 9th October 2023 – BMW Malaysia has unveiled the New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine, further extending the premium automaker’s best-selling line-up of compact SAVs that are proudly assembled in the country. The new variant will represent the third generation of the BMW X1, featuring larger dimensions and a powerful appearance.

The New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine arrives with a distinctive new design featuring a powerful stance, complemented by a spacious interior – thanks to the new SAV’s larger dimensions. The sophisticated, stylish interior of the BMW X1 is further elevated with new additions of the BMW Curved Display and BMW Live Cockpit Plus, powered by the BMW Operating System 8. At the heart of the New BMW X1 sits a formidable two-litre, four-cylinder Twin Power Turbo engine capable of up to 204 HP.
A symbol of power and style
Emanating a bold presence on the road, the New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine features a large kidney grille with a Pearl Chrome frame and high-gloss Black slats, complemented by lines and surfaces that extend outwards in the shape of an X. The outer air intakes come with distinctive chrome trims, while the surrounding trim parts at the bottom are in Dark Grey for a rugged contrast. Unique to the new SAV, the front features slender wraparound adaptive LED headlights with new daytime running lights in an eye-catching design.
The generously flared square wheel arches convey the characteristic BMW X look with new 19-inch light alloy wheels in V-Spoke Style 867 Bicolour, complemented by a stylised Matte Aluminium underride protection panel along with xLine bumpers in the front and rear. Unique to the new SAV are also mirror covers in Glacier Silver and door sill panels with BMW designation in Matte Aluminium. A prominent addition to the premium compact segment, the New BMW X1 also offers larger dimensions measuring 4,500mm in length, 1,845mm in width, 1,616mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,692mm. The New BMW X1’s luggage compartment is remarkably generous for its segment, offering a maximum capacity of 1,527 litres.
The New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine will be offered in five stunning colours, namely Black Sapphire, Alpine White, Cape York Green, Phytonic Blue and Space Silver, paired with Black Perforated Sensatec upholstery and M Headliner Anthracite.
Sophisticated interior, advanced connectivity
Inside the stylish cockpit of the New BMW X1 sDrive20i xLine is the modern, driver-oriented BMW Curved Display with a sophisticated display configuration comprising of a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and central touchscreen 10.7-inch Control Display, that is seen in the First-Ever BMW iX1. Standard features of the digital BMW Live Cockpit Plus include navigation and the BMW Operating System 8, which also ensures intelligent integration of the new BMW iDrive functions and provides comprehensive connectivity such as Luxury Instrument Panel and wireless charging in the new SAV.
The floating armrest is an innovative feature that is now available in the New BMW X1 which eliminates the central tunnel to free up space for storage in the centre console. The control panel including the gear selector, volume control and My Modes button are integrated into this armrest for convenience. In terms of comfort and style, owners can enjoy the new M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, two-zone automatic air conditioning and elevated front Sport seats in Sensatec for good all-round visibility, while passengers enjoy generous legroom in the rear.
Enjoy endless personalisation of the new SAV via the BMW ID, along with the six My Modes features comprising of Efficient, Sport, Relax, Expressive, Personal Mode and Art Mode. Connectivity is further enhanced with Comfort Access and the BMW Digital Key Plus that allows intelligent smartphone compatibility to unlock the vehicle hands-free while automatically activating the driver’s personal settings at the same time.
Superior performance, intelligent assistance
Still the most agile SAV in the premium compact segment, the New BMW X1 is powered by a formidable 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a 7-Speed Steptronic Dual Clutch Sport transmission. Comfort-tuned suspension in the new SAV promises a relaxing journey for the driver and passengers onboard. The New BMW X1 features a top speed of 236 km/h, with a maximum output of 204 hp (150 kW) and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The century sprint can be easily achieved in 7.6 seconds. The New X1 also records a combined fuel consumption of 7.2 litres per 100km of travel and combined carbon emission of 158g/km.
Assistance systems to look forward to in the New BMW X1 include the Driving and Parking Assistants, in addition to the standard Hill Start Assist, Speed Limiter, Attentiveness Assistant, Lane Departure Warning with active steering intervention, Front Collision and Left Turn Warnings – both with braking function, as well as the Evasion Assistant.
