6th October 2025 – Bermaz Motor recently hosted its 11th Mazda Charity Golf Tournament at the Glenmarie Golf & Country Club, bringing together business leaders, golf enthusiasts, Mazda customers, and members of the community for a meaningful day of sport and giving. This annual tournament is more than just a competition on the greens – it has become a cornerstone fundraising event dedicated to supporting the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF). Since its establishment, the MMF has been steadfast in its mission to provide humanitarian aid and medical relief to underprivileged communities across Malaysia, while also extending assistance to charitable organizations such as orphanages, homes for the elderly, and welfare centres. Through events like this, Bermaz Motor continues to demonstrate how the spirit of driving enjoyment can be paired with a responsibility to uplift society.
Tan Sri Dato Sri Ben Yeoh, Executive Chairman of Bermaz Auto Berhad said, “We are deeply honoured by the presence of His Royal Highness Sultan of Pahang and the distinguished leaders who joined us this year. Their participation is a powerful reminder that when leaders, businesses, and communities come together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those in need. The Mazda Charity Golf Tournament has grown into one of the most meaningful initiatives under the Mazda Medicare Fund, and this year’s edition is truly a milestone moment. The special participation of national leaders and the overwhelming support from the community reflect how compassion, unity, and commitment can drive lasting change for those most in need. At Bermaz, we believe that this tournament is more than just a sporting event, it is a testament to our responsibility to give back and to continue building a culture of care and compassion in Malaysia. We look forward to carrying this spirit forward, expanding our reach, and touching even more lives in the years to come.”
The 2025 Mazda Charity Golf Tournament marked an unforgettable milestone under the esteemed Royal Patronage of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah. As the Royal Patron of the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF) since its establishment in 2015, His Royal Highness has consistently championed charitable endeavours and provided unwavering support to initiatives that bring meaningful change to communities in need. Renowned for his compassion, humility, and dedication to the welfare of the rakyat.
His Royal Highness’ gracious presence at this year’s tournament has immensely elevated the occasion with dignity and purpose, serving as a powerful reminder that true leadership lies in selfless service and the pursuit of lasting impact for society.
Also gracing the occasion were YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation; YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor Darul Ehsan; Yang Berhormat Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI); Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysia Investment Development Authority (MIDA); Dato Lokman Hakim Ali, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and other senior government officials.
The participation of these leaders highlighted how Royalties, government, and corporate entities can unite to champion the spirit of service, compassion, and giving back to society.
This year’s tournament attracted 200 participants, reflecting not only the strong interest from the golfing fraternity but also the broad support for Mazda’s long-standing commitment to social responsibility. The line-up featured a distinguished mix of seasoned golfers, corporate partners, and new participants, all united by a shared dedication to the cause. The event provided an excellent balance of competitive play and networking opportunities, fostering both spirited competition on the course and meaningful connections beyond it.
Through the collective generosity of participants, donors, and sponsors, the tournament successfully raised RM1.4 million in donations. The proceeds will be directed to the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF) to sustain and expand its nationwide charitable initiatives. These contributions will provide vital support to underprivileged communities, medical relief programmes, and welfare organisations across Malaysia. The impressive level of participation and philanthropy once again demonstrated how sport can serve as a powerful platform for uniting communities and driving positive, lasting change.
During the prize-giving luncheon, a special cheque handover ceremony was held, where representatives from the selected beneficiaries were invited on stage to receive mock cheques symbolizing the funds allocated to their causes. This year, the recipients reflected a wide spectrum of community needs, including:
-
Mount Miriam Cancer Hospital’s TKPKMM (Tabung Kebajikan Penyakit Kanser Mount Miriam), Penang
-
Persatuan Kebajikan Ahsana, Kuala Lumpur
-
House of Love, Selangor
By channelling proceeds to organizations that provide cancer care, safe homes, and vital welfare services, Bermaz Motor and the Mazda Medicare Fund (MMF) continue to strengthen their role as committed partners in addressing community needs.
“We are grateful for our sponsors who, with their generous contributions, made this event possible. It is an honour to provide funds to these charities whose work makes a positive difference in the lives of thousands of individuals every day,” said Tan Sri Dato Sri Ben Yeoh
The MMF was founded in 2015 through a joint effort between Prima Merdu Sdn Bhd and B. Braun Avitum Renal Services, with the mission of offering life-saving haemodialysis treatments for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who face financial hardship. Today, with 16 B. Braun dialysis centres operating across Malaysia, the fund continues to make a tangible difference by providing subsidized haemodialysis treatment to eligible patients who would otherwise struggle to afford care.
Beyond medical relief, the MMF has steadily expanded its scope to include a wide range of charitable causes. These include supporting elderly homes, orphanages, facilities for people with disabilities, and centers for children with down syndrome. Every beneficiary is carefully selected and vetted to ensure transparency, accountability, and that every ringgit is used for maximum impact. Importantly, the MMF operates without additional overhead costs, as it is run by volunteers from Bermaz. This unique structure ensures that 100% of all donations go directly to those in need, strengthening public trust in the fund and sustaining its legacy of compassion.
In addition to annual events, Bermaz Motor has built long-term sustainability into MMF through the Mazda Privilege Card (MPC), launched in 2018. With a one-time sign-up fee of RM100 that goes entirely to MMF – and which qualifies as tax-exempted by LHDN – the MPC has become both a tool for charity and a rewarding program for Mazda owners.
Cardholders not only contribute directly to assisting the underprivileged but also enjoy tangible benefits, including a 15% discount on selected Mazda genuine spare parts and a 5% discount on labour charges at Bermaz Motor and Prima Merdu Mazda showrooms and service centres nationwide. Over the years, the MPC has been warmly embraced by Mazda owners, and donations have continued to rise steadily. This initiative reflects a unique partnership between the brand and its customers, embedding a spirit of giving into the ownership experience itself and ensuring continuous support for MMF throughout the year.
