KUALA LUMPUR, 27th May 2019 – Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, the CSR foundation of Naza Group, invited over 120 children from two orphanages for a sumptuous iftar with Naza Group senior management team and staff volunteers at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC). The yearly initiative by the privately-owned Bumiputera conglomerate aims to give back to the society during the Ramadhan period and make Ramadhan a more cheerful one for the underprivileged community.
Orphans from Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim dan Miskin Seri Kundang and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam Peribadi Mulia enjoyed a scrumptious Buka Puasa buffet spread at the event hosted by the co-founder of Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin, Puan Sri Datin Seri Utama Zaleha Ismail and her family, SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman, Naza Group of Companies and his spouse Marion Caunter Abdullah; Datuk Wira SM Faisal SM Nasimuddin, Joint Group Executive Chairman, Naza Group of Companies; SM Faliq SM Nasimuddin, Deputy Executive Chairman, Naza Group of Companies; Nur Diana SM Nasimuddin and Nur Nadia SM Nasimuddin, Directors of F&B Division, Naza F&B Holdings. The orphans also received over RM70,000 worth of new clothes, duit raya and monetary contribution to the homes to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“It has been Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin’s tradition to give our support to the underprivileged especially during the month of Ramadhan. The foundation was established in honour of our late father and hence it serves a purpose close to our hearts – to help those in need and contribute to the common good through charity and volunteerism,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Group Executive Chairman & CEO, Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd.
“We are beyond grateful and happy to be able to spread the joy of Ramadhan yet again with those in need. Through our corporate social responsibility programmes, we hope that by sharing our good fortune with the less fortunate, we are able to make the month of blessings and their Syawal more meaningful,” added SM Nasarudin.
Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin volunteers, comprising of senior management and staff of the Naza Group, also participated in the month-long Ramadhan CSR programme where they visited the less fortunate communities.
On 18th May, volunteers from the foundation together with Naza Group shareholders and their families paid a visit to the Children’s Cancer Ward in Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) where they mingled with and entertained the children with activities and games. The children at the ward also received duit raya, essentials and Hari Raya goodies courtesy from the foundation.
Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin visited Pusat Jagaan Al-Fikrah, an old folks’ home located in Kajang, on 21st May. They distributed necessities such as adult diapers, toiletries, supplements and cleaning products to help alleviate living conditions at the home. During the visit, Puan Sri Datin Seri Utama Zaleha Ismail and her family also handed ‘zakat’ to the home’s caretaker and also a token for each individual at the old folks’ home.
On 25th May, a delegation of volunteers led by Puan Sri Datin Seri Utama Zaleha Ismail met with asnaf families at Masjid Hidayatul Muttaqin Kampung Bukit Lanchung in Shah Alam. The visit was made to deliver assistance by sponsoring food supplies such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt and more to the families. Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin also handed out ‘zakat’ contributions to them.
This Ramadhan, close to RM180,000 was contributed to charity by Naza Group. Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin was established in honour of the Group’s late founder Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin with a mission to provide aid to the underserved communities in Malaysia based on three key pillars namely education, community development and healthcare. The Naza Group believes in giving back to society as a successful business is more than just its operational and financial achievements. Over the years, Yayasan Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin has distributed zakat to schools, conducted education workshops for school children and donated various items such as school uniforms and bags, food items and vehicles to improve the livelihood of underprivileged communities.
