ShopeePay now at Caltex

KUALA LUMPUR, November 9, 2020 — Great news for all motorists! Chevron Malaysia Limited (“Chevron”), which markets the brand Caltex® (“Caltex”), today announced its partnership with Shopee to enable contactless payments via the e-commerce platform’s mobile wallet, ShopeePay at more than 420 Caltex service stations nationwide. This partnership will allow customers to transact using ShopeePay when they fuel up or purchase items at participating Caltex service stations.

Caltex is the first fuel provider in Malaysia to offer ShopeePay. This alternative payment option at Caltex brings even greater convenience and security for motorists due to its feature of being a safe and secure mode of payment.

Jay Gomez, Country Chairman for Chevron Malaysia, said, “At Caltex, we are committed to offering excellent fuel products and services. Part of such commitment is also prioritising customer convenience at our service stations. We are excited to introduce a new contactless payment option as we continuously look for ways to bring a hassle-free fuelling experience to our customers in their Caltex journey. Working together with ShopeePay allows us to provide fast, easy and secure transactions at our stations, more so now with the growing adoption of contactless payments in the country.”

Meanwhile, Alain Yee, Head of ShopeePay, added, “The collaboration with Caltex marks ShopeePay’s first partnership with a petrol company. Our effort to support the retail industry with ShopeePay is in response to consumers’ changing behaviour as Malaysians opt for contactless payments amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Being able to use ShopeePay with offline merchants provides greater convenience to Malaysians as they can do all their shopping and payments online and offline via a single app, making their experience more seamless. Through this partnership with Caltex, ShopeePay users will be able to fuel up for their journey wherever they go.”

In celebration of this partnership, users will be rewarded with RM4 cashback when they spend at least RM40 and pay with ShopeePay at any Caltex stations from 9 November 2020 until 31 December 2020. Each ShopeePay user is entitled to receive up to three cashbacks throughout the campaign period, or until it is fully redeemed, whichever comes first.
