Island 88 Powers Up the Future with BMWi EV Charging Station

PENANG, 9th January 2024 – Island 88 Powers Up the Future by proudly announcing the launch of its brand-new BMW i EV Charging Station, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future for both the mall and its community.

Located conveniently at the Island 88 sub-Basement, the new station boasts 3 unit 7.4kWh AC charger and First 60kWh DC chargers in Tanjong Tokong, offering drivers a fast and efficient way to power up their vehicles while enjoying their shopping activities at Island 88.

EVC Managing Director, Ir Lee Yuen How highlighted, “Our aim is to facilitate the installation of more DCFC EV charging stations across Malaysia especially in Penang whereby EV facilities here are still scarce. This, in turn, will increase range confidence and the desire to adopt EVs and represents a significant step forward into our efforts, together with our partner at Tian Siang Premium Auto to boost the growth of the EV ecosystem in Malaysia.”

Tian Siang Premium Auto’s Dealer Principal, Mr. Tan Ka Kin said the new charging facilities at Island 88 marks the first collaboration with EVC.

“The new BMW charging stations, developed in partnership with JomCharge, boast advanced technology and user-friendly features to enhance the overall EV charging experience. These stations are strategically positioned at Island 88 to cater to the growing demand for electric mobility, ensuring that EV drivers can charge their vehicles quickly and efficiently,” he said.
