ETCM & TCEAS CONDUCT VOLUNTARY PRODUCT RECALL FOR NISSAN SERENA S-HYBRID (C26) CBU VARIANT

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 August 2020 – Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM), together with Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Centre (TCEAS), today announced a voluntary product recall campaign for Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) Completely Built-Up (CBU) variant to reprogram its Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Control Unit. All labour and replacement parts (if any) for this service campaign will be at no cost to owners, and the reprogramming process will take approximately 45 minutes.

After investigation conducted by Nissan Motor Co. Ltd, approximately 4,001 units of Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant from Japan have been identified to be affected in the recall campaign as stated below:

The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) Completely Knock Down (CKD) variant which was launched in Malaysia on November 2014, as well as the current Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C27) CKD variant launched on May 2018, and other current selling Nissan models are not affected by this exercise.

Customers of the affected Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant will be notified directly through TCEAS by letter, SMS or Whatsapp, and are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet for an appointment. Selected TCEAS outlets have extended operation hours and are open 365 days a year, making it easier for customers to service their vehicles on weekends and public holidays, as well as to alleviate capacity surge during this recall campaign.

As vehicle ownership may have changed over the years, current owners of this model are reminded to call Nissan Customer Care Centre toll-free line at 1800-88-3838, to find out if their Nissan Serena S-Hybrid (C26) CBU variant is involved in the recall campaign.
