Driven by the success of last year’s instalment of the BMW Motorrad GS Challenge, the race returns to push local GS riders to the limits off the beaten path, for a chance to ride with the 2024 International GS Trophy Tour in Namibia. Putrajaya, 25th September 2023 – BMW Motorrad Malaysia hosted the much-anticipated return of the BMW Motorrad GS Challenge in Putrajaya from 23rd – 24th September. With over 180 attendees, the thrilling weekend festivities put riders’ off-roading skills to the test and brought together BMW Motorrad owners and enthusiasts alike under the indomitable spirit of GS. Hans de Visser, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia said, “We are thrilled to be bringing back the BMW Motorrad GS Challenge this year to our passionate community of GS riders here in Malaysia. Following its successful reception last year, it is a joy to see our participants experience the same freedom, power and spirit of adventure again as they traversed through the challenging terrain, embodying everything that our GS motorcycles were designed for.” The weekend’s activities had participants test their riding and navigation prowess across several unique individual off-road challenges as well as an exhilarating ‘Follow the Trails’ course for BMW G 310 GS owners. The Top 10 riders from Day 1 were then selected to compete in another adrenaline-fuelled round of skill tests on Day 2, as they vied for an exclusive opportunity to participate in the ‘Follow the Trails’ (FTT) Tour of the International BMW GS Trophy in Namibia, which will take place in 2024. Exclusive prizes courtesy of official tyre sponsor Metzeler were also presented to the Top 10 finalists of the course. After two gruelling days of competition that included a night of good food and music by the ‘GS Fireplace’ dinner, five finalists mastered the challenge to win a spot on the FTT Namibia 2024 tour. In no particular order, the winners of this year’s BMW Motorrad GS Challenge are Asmawi Bin Ali, Diwaagar A/L Tambychandran, Affendy Syed Omar, Zulkifli Bin Zainal Abidin and Azlan Shah Bin Ahmad Suhaimi.
