Kuala Lumpur, 21st May 2024 – BMW Malaysia today unveiled the All-New BMW i5 M60 xDrive and the new locally assembled BMW 520i – the latest additions to their fleet of premium sporty sedans, at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Featured alongside the new BMW 5 Series models are the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20 M Sport and the First-Ever BMW iX2 xDrive30 M Sport.

The BMW 5 Series is the heart of the BMW brand, with it being a leader in the prestigious executive sedan segment for years now. The 5 Series family will, for the first time, include two fully electric variants sold under the BMW i5 name, the BMW i5 eDrive40 and the All-New BMW i5 M60 xDrive, alongside the latest variant of the locally assembled BMW 520i.

The All-New BMW i5 M60 xDrive embodies the perfect fusion of modernity and performance, evident in its striking design elements. The M performance kidney grille immediately stands out, accentuated by the BMW Iconic Glow exterior package, which adds a fully illuminated frame, ensuring the All-New BMW i5 M60 xDrive commands attention wherever it goes. Complementing this bold front-end design are the sleek body lines, exuding a sense of contemporary sophistication and confidence. Vertical LED strips in the headlights not only enhance visibility but also set the stage for captivating daytime running lights, contributing to the vehicle’s distinctive appearance. With cutting-edge features such as Distance Control with Stop & Go function and Steering and Lane Control Assistant, drivers enjoy an advanced level of assistance that brings the driving experience to level 2 of partial automation. Automatic Speed Limit Assist, route control, and active navigation guidance ensure precise adjustment of speed and lane changes to suit the prevailing traffic conditions, including factors like vehicle proximity, speed limits, and overtaking restrictions. Like its electric counterpart, the exterior on the New BMW 520i features a similar design to the BMW i5, showcasing a sleek and sporty exterior design language. With its elongated silhouette, culminating in a harmoniously designed sporty rear section, the New BMW 520i now runs on new 19-inch aerodynamic wheels 934 bicolour grey.
The New BMW 520i also now features a truly sophisticated interior design that seamlessly blends functionality with elegance. The two-spoked steering wheel boasts integrated controls in its horizontal spokes, providing convenient access to various functions. A flattened bottom section, a first for the BMW 5 Series, adds a sporty touch to the steering wheel. Other notable features include the driver-oriented BMW Curved Display, comprising a 12.3-inch instrument display and a 14.9-inch touchscreen Control Display. The New BMW 520i is powered by the revered B48 4-cylinder engine, now in 48V mild hybrid form, a technology previously seen in the BMW X7. This powertrain configuration delivers a robust performance, generating 153 kW/208 hp and a torque of 330 Nm – enabling the New BMW 520i to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. With a top speed of 230 km/h, this further solidifies the vehicle’s position as a formidable contender in the premium sedan segment. The New BMW 520i’s mild hybrid system also enhances efficiency and reduces emissions, whether cruising along the highways or navigating urban streets, offering a refined driving experience that blends power, efficiency, and luxury seamlessly.
The Driving Assistant Plus in the New BMW 520i elevates driving safety and convenience with its comprehensive suite of camera- and radar-based driver assistance systems, including the Active Cruise Control, Steering and Lane Control Assistant, as well as the Lane Departure Warning system. With these advanced features, the Driving Assistant Plus ensures a safer and more comfortable driving experience in the New BMW 520i.
