Amanda Zhang, CEO & President of Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia shared, “As a brand synonymous with innovation and progress, Mercedes-Benz is devoted to pushing the boundaries of design and technology where customer satisfaction drives our pursuit for excellence. What truly makes a Mercedes-Benz, is our unique blend of iconic luxury with leading technology, creating the unmistakable ‘X’ factor that sets us apart. At MBFWKL 2024, we are not merely showcasing fashion; we are unveiling a vision for the future of luxury and mobility. This event is a platform to celebrate and support designers who are challenging conventions and championing sustainability, both in fashion and in our vehicles. As we enter our sixth year, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering creativity and providing a stage for both emerging and established talents to present their visionary work. This event stands as a testament to our ongoing pursuit of innovation and environmental responsibility, creating a unique synergy between the worlds of automotive and fashion.”

Heralding an era of electric mobility, sustainability remains a core vision as Mercedes-Benz celebrates the luxury of its cars while embracing sustainable fashion. Through this platform, Mercedes-Benz proudly honours local talents in the fashion industry who not only embody the essence of luxury, but also focus their designs and creativity on sustainability.

MBFWKL 2024: A Celebration of Fashion and Sustainable Innovation

Held against the industrial ambience of The Yard at Sentul Depot from August 16 to 18, fashion lovers will have the opportunity to admire breathtaking styles and designs from more than 10 designers, promising three days of mesmerising haute couture to contemporary glamour, creativity and elegance. Additionally, attendees will have the unique chance to experience the luxury and performance of Mercedes-Benz firsthand through exclusive test drives.

MBFWKL 2024 kicks off with collections from emerging brands such as EL by Ellie Lim and DOUBLEBACK by Will Lim, alongside established names like Alice Chang of A-JANE and NOIZ. Ellie Lim’s exquisite textures and sustainable fabrics are expected to enthral audiences, while Will Lim’s fearless attitude is set to resonate with the crowd. The designers’ commitment to eco-friendly practices is evident in every stitch and silhouette. Alice Chang’s combined show for A-JANE and NOIZ further emphasises the event’s focus on sustainability. With 90% of her collection produced using carbon-neutral processes and waste-reducing techniques, Chang demonstrates that eco-friendly fashion can be both avant-garde and commercially viable.

This year’s event marks a key milestone for MBFWKL, celebrating its evolution from a local showcase to an internationally-recognised platform. The lineup features a dynamic mix of seasoned designers and fresh faces, including Celest Thoi, Aaron Yong and Oscar Lee, all pushing the envelope with sustainable practices and innovative designs. MBFWKL 2024 also features Club21’s presentation of international brands such as Self-Portrait, AMIRI and Jacquemus, bringing a global perspective to the local stage.

The event will culminate with shows from industry heavyweights like Brian Khoo, Jonathan Cheng and Voon Lai of Unitedwood and 2023 World Federation of Master Tailors Emerging Design competition winner, Dickson Lim. Following his success in Italy, Lim is expected to showcase a collection that combines his signature aesthetic with eco-conscious practices.
