BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia Completes Fundraiser Supporting NGOs Empire Project and Refuge for the Refugees

For every funded contract of electrified BMW and MINI models, RM100 was contributed on behalf of customers to the Empire Project and Refuge for the Refugees.

Kuala Lumpur, 18th February 2022 – BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia today announced the completion of their fundraiser for the Empire Project and Refuge for the Refugees. Over RM33,000 was raised, on behalf of BMW and MINI customers via 339 funded Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) contracts signed between 1st October to 31st December 2021.

Matthias Schlesiger, CEO of BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia said, “While the country has made significant strides in returning to normalcy, it does not conclude our commitment towards helping vulnerable communities in Malaysia. The plight of those in need have always been present and what the Covid-19 pandemic has simply done is to bring these issues to the foreground. There is still much work to be done and we are grateful to non-governmental organisations, such as Refuge for the Refugees and Empire Project, for giving us the opportunity to contribute to their good work and who continue to actively provide aid to these communities.”

The initiative saw 339 contributions of RM100 made on behalf of BMW and MINI customers, for every funded contract of the following models: the BMW 330e M Sport, BMW 530e M Sport, BMW 740Le xDrive, BMW X5 xDrive45e M Sport, as well as the MINI Cooper SE Countryman ALL4 and the MINI Cooper SE 3 Door.

The total funds raised over the three-month period will be channelled equally to both organisations to be used in their aid efforts, including their food and school aid programmes that BMW Group Malaysia has supported logistically over the last two pandemic years.
