Contestants stand a chance to win a brand new Subaru XV 2.0i-P

PETALING JAYA, 20 July 2017 – Back for the 9th year, Motor Image Malaysia – the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia – announced their annual event, Subaru Palm Challenge 2017 – Malaysia Face-Off to take place on Saturday, 22 July 2017 at Piazza, The Curve, Mutiara Damansara.

The event will see 80 participants battle it out for the top 10 spots to be eligible for the regional grand finale at the MediaCorp Subaru Car Challenge 2017 – The Asian Face-Off on 28 – 31 October 2017. This will be a test of mental and physical endurance for each participant as they have to keep their palm on a Subaru vehicle for the longest time possible with only a 5-minute break every 6 hours to grab a quick bite or visit the washroom.

As easy as that sounds, participants will have to partake in a series of tough challenges as part of the elimination process. The challenges will be introduced to the participants at sporadic timings throughout the day to keep the participants on their toes at all time.

This year, for a fairer chance to all registered participants, they will be invited to draw lots to be eligible for the 80 spots. Meanwhile, shoppers at The Curve can also join the fun with the Mini Palm Challenge offered by Subaru to win attractive prizes the following day.

Subaru Palm Challenge 2016 – Malaysia Face-Off

Last year’s winner, 38-year-old Sunawar Ali S/O Idris Ali from Singapore has clocked an impressive 75 hours and 58 minutes, despite the blazing heat on the final day, to bring home the Grand Prize. Philippines, whose participants achieved the longest combined standing time of 490 hours and 42 minutes, despite a disadvantage of having only nine regional participants, when one participant had to back out at the last minute, has been awarded the Country Team Winner title.
