SEPANG, 30 September 2016 – The 18th edition of the Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix, themed Experience Redef1ned begins today at Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Regardless of your preference, there are plenty of activities happening this weekend that fans can look forward to at the 2016 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix. Held from 30 September to 2 October 2016, it is the 16th race in a 21-race season.
For the first time, our national racers in the GP2 and GP3 series, Nabil Jeffri and Akash Neil Nandy will be racing in front of a home crowd. Meanwhile, fans can look forward to thrilling action from their favourite drivers and teams as this is the first F1 Grand Prix to be held in Sepang since the track was resurfaced and upgraded this year.
Besides racing action, fans and visitors can look forward to an exciting three days of off-track activities including the F1 Village & Fan Zone, Public Pit Lane Walk, Drivers’ Autograph Session, Drivers’ Fan Forum, XTrack Experience and much more. The F1 experience will close on a high note on 2 October with the After-Race Concert headlined by Usher and featuring local artistes from Universal Music Malaysia.

Here is what’s in store for the weekend at the 2016 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix:
GP2/GP3 Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and TCR International Series
29 September – 2 October, 9.00am – 6.00pm
Catch more excitement on the track with the GP2 and GP3 series, happening for the first time at the F1 Malaysia Grand Prix. With the inclusion of our national racers, Nabil Jeffri and Akash Neil Nandy, the support races are set for an interesting take this year. Race 1 of the GP3 series will be held on 1 October at 10.30am while Race 1 of the GP2 series begins at 11.50am on the same day. Race 2 for both series will take place on 2 October at 10.05am for GP3 and 11.20am for GP2.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, considered Asia’s premier sports car racing series will kick off with its Qualifying Session on 1 October at 9.20am, while the race is scheduled on 2 October from 12.35pm to 1.10pm.
The TCR International Series begins on 30 September with its Qualifying Session at 8.40am and Race 1 at 5.45pm while Race 2 is on 1 October at 3.30pm.
F1 Gamezone @ F1 Village

XTrack Experience, Mall Area

Enjoy Experience Redef1ned off the track as this year’s off-track activities are designed with fun for the family in mind. To encourage and nurture love for motorsports, the Xtrack experience features a line-up of motorsports-related activities such as drifting, rallying, go-karting, and ATV rides. Entry is free.
XTrack Kids, Mall Area
30 September – 2 October, 9.00am – 6.00pm
Fans and visitors with children can keep them occupied with kids’ activities at the XTrack Kids area. They can have a taste of racing on a playful scale with the Kids’ Driving School, Pocket Bike and the Strider Cup. There is also a Picnic Area for parents and families to enjoy while their little ones play. Apart from these mini racing activities, kids can also enjoy the Kids’ Inflatable and Mini Golf Course on their day out this F1 weekend. Entry is free for all.
Usher at the After-Race Concert, Star Stand
2 October 2016, 5.00pm – 8.10pm
Fans of Usher will be thrilled to know that the multi-Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter performs at Sepang International Circuit, closing the 2016 Formula 1 PETRONAS Malaysia Grand Prix on a high. Catch the After-Race Concert, which is open to all ticket holders, regardless of ticket type. The concert, featuring local artistes including Modescape, quintet Back2Basixx, Fazura and Natasha Sass as opening acts, is set to entertain the multitude of fans at the Star Stand.
