Shah Alam, 6 January 2016 – Lexus Malaysia announced today it has hit a new sales record in 2015 with 2,101 units of vehicles sold. The achievement enables the brand to strengthen its position in the luxury vehicle segment in the country, a segment that appeared to have impressive sales momentum throughout the year, amidst the challenging economic situation.

The newly launched Lexus models, especially the Lexus NX, Lexus ES and the all new Lexus RX has given a boost to Lexus position in the Luxury vehicle segment which sees it currently ranked third. The best-seller premium compact SUV, the Lexus NX leads the Lexus sales at 54% with over 1,100 units sold. Other Lexus models contributed to the number were the Lexus ES range and the recently launched all new Lexus RX model which represent 33% and 9% sales respectively.

According to Mr. Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, “We are very pleased with Lexus Malaysia performance last year as we hit record sales. In 2015, we rolled out excellent marketing initiatives in line with Lexus’s new tag line of ‘Amazing in Motion’. Many strong marketing activities held to reach out directly to our targeted customers has proven to be very effective and valuable. We are able to have good feedback from our customers and this has helped us to improve our product as well as the Lexus ownership experience.”
